The Tweed Valley Trails Association (TVTA) is currently looking for new volunteer Board Members to help continue the success and drive the organisation forward.
The TVTA is a relatively new charity dedicated to improving and better maintaining the trail network across the Tweed Valley. In a short space of time it took on the inspection and management of many of the most popular bike trails in the Caberston Forest area, as well as delivering some exciting new trail projects. The charity was set up to focus on maintaining and improving mountain bike trails, but also works on paths for all users to enjoy and with projects across the Tweed Valley area.
The Tweed Valley Trails Association currently has over 300 members who donate to the charity to help support its aims and ambitions. Without support from so many volunteers, companies and individual donations, the group just couldn’t deliver the work it does. Whether this is on public dig days or the meeting as an admin behind the scenes to improve the trail network.
The trails the charity manages have featured in international mountain bike races and are some of the most popular in the country, they bring in significant value for the local economy, with many local businesses now reliant on the trail network that TVTA help manage.
The charity’s board currently comprises:
- Chair - Vacancy
- Treasurer - Ed Shoote
- Secretary - Fred Bell
Plus
- Paul Lindsay covering both Digs and Social Media
- Ruaraidh Cunningham Rider and Event Relations
- In addition Marc Crowley is in a split role between the TVTA and DMBinS as Trail Development Coordinator (Under our constitution he is unable to remain a board member)
The board would like to thank all of the previous board members who have brought the TVTA to where it is today. If it wasn’t for their ideas, hard work and persistence we wouldn’t be in our current position of needing to grow.
We need individuals to bring the right skills, enthusiasm and be willing to commit a few hours a month to support the group's growth and achieve its ambitions for the community it represents.
If you think you have skills that you can provide that will increase the organisation's capability and enable us to grow, get in touch.
Current TVTA Board member and ex-professional mountain biker Ruaridh Cunnigham said “The TVTA has recently worked hard to consolidate its role in managing the trail network and has delivered some exciting projects already and we’re busy planning more. The charity is in a great position but we want to do more and grow our reach. We are excited to find a new Chair who can really help us deliver the next stage in growing and sustaining the trails we all love to ride.”
The TVTA would love to speak to interested parties; please contact us via [email protected] and we’ll be delighted to send more information and set up the opportunity to discuss this further.
